About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist is a professional-level role responsible for independently administering and advising on core human resources functions. This position exercises discretion and independent judgment on matters of significance, supports organizational compliance with employment laws and regulations, and serves as a strategic partner to management in employee relations, performance management, and workforce planning. This role operates with minimal supervision and is accountable for interpreting policies, analyzing employee-related issues, and recommending appropriate actions consistent with organizational goals and legal requirements. This position supports daily HR operations, including payroll, benefits management, recruitment, and other HR initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of progressive HR experience.
  • Have prior experience with Payroll, Benefits Management and other HR functions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a customer service mindset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel and HRIS systems.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with employment laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work well under pressure.
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality.

  • Must Pass Child Abuse History and Criminal Record Check Clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary HR advisor to supervisors and managers on employee relations matters, including performance concerns, corrective action, attendance issues, and workplace conduct.
  • Independently assess employee situations, gather facts, analyze risk, and recommend appropriate courses of action.
  • Participate in and support internal investigations, including documentation, analysis, and outcome recommendations.
  • Interpret and apply organizational policies and employment laws to real-world situations.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Monitor HR practices for legal and regulatory risk and proactively recommend corrective or preventive measures.
  • Support audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Maintain confidential employee records and sensitive information in accordance with legal standards.
  • Administer and oversee payroll operations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal and state wage-and-hour laws.
  • Review payroll data for accuracy, trends, and discrepancies; investigate and resolve payroll issues using independent judgment.
  • Ensure proper classification of employees (exempt vs. non-exempt), correct pay rates, deductions, and timekeeping practices.
  • Interpret payroll-related laws and regulations and recommend process improvements or corrective actions.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Human Resources, Finance, benefits brokers and the payroll system/vendor.
  • Interpret and administer employee benefits and leave programs (including FMLA and ADA-related processes).
  • Handle benefits administrations, including 401(k), Cobra, unemployment compensation and worker compensation claims to ensure compliance.
  • Manage professional-level recruitment activities, including screening candidates, participating in interviews, and advising hiring managers, when required.
  • Evaluate candidate qualifications and make hiring recommendations based on organizational needs.
  • Ensure hiring and onboarding practices align with compliance standards and internal policies.
  • Handle pre-employment screenings, reference checks, and background verifications, including PA Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprinting clearances for all employees.
  • Attends and participates in college & in-person job fairs and recruiting sessions when required.
  • Cross-train with other team members to be able to assist in the onboarding process, including preparation of new hire paperwork, conducting orientation training, and ensuring a smooth transition for new employees.
  • Administer employees’ document updates in HRIS system, including car documents, coordinate with supervisors to make sure employees update their car documents as required.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, including personal information, job changes, and attendance records.
  • Update and manage HR databases and HRIS systems to ensure data accuracy.
  • Process HR-related paperwork such as employment contracts, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.
  • Assist in the organization of employee engagement programs, including recognition events, wellness programs, and company-wide communications.
  • Execute Stay and Exit interviews for all staff.
  • Respond to employee queries about HR policies, benefits, and other HR-related matters when needed.
  • Support HR initiatives like employee engagement programs, training, and performance management.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and revision of HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations, and company policies.
  • Prepare and analyze HR and Payroll data and reports related to labor cost, overtime trends, turnover, staffing, compliance, and employee relations.
  • Use data and professional judgment to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support HR initiatives aligned with organizational strategy and growth.
  • Maintain confidentiality and data accuracy at all times.
  • Has ability to take initiative and complete assignments, after initial direction, to completion.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
