The Human Resources Director (HR Director) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of all human resources functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, learning and development, and regulatory compliance. This role partners closely with senior leadership to align HR strategies with organizational goals and foster a high-performing, engaged workforce. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the HR Director serves as a trusted advisor to leadership and an advocate for employees, supporting a culture rooted in accountability, integrity, and inclusion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5–10 years of progressive HR leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to collaborate and interact with a diverse group of health care and other professionals.
  • Ability to strongly embrace and personify the mission of Aviva Health.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work appropriately, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Nice To Haves

  • SHRM-SCP or similar certification preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare or nonprofit settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of human resources strategies that support organizational goals, mission, and values.
  • Partner with senior leadership to support workforce planning, organizational development, and change management initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee talent acquisition and retention strategies, including recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning.
  • Partner with managers to attract, develop, and retain a high-quality and diverse workforce.
  • Provide guidance and leadership on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, investigations, and performance concerns.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that supports employee engagement and organizational effectiveness.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and administration of competitive compensation and benefits programs.
  • Conduct or coordinate market analyses and provide recommendations to leadership to ensure internal equity and market competitiveness.
  • Manage relationships with benefit vendors, brokers, and service providers.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and mitigate organizational risk in partnership with legal counsel and Compliance and Risk Management.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and documentation to support compliance and organizational needs.
  • Oversee performance management processes, including evaluation cycles, feedback systems, and corrective action tracking.
  • Lead learning and development initiatives, including training programs, leadership development, and succession planning.
  • Coach and support managers in performance management and employee development practices.
  • Assess employee engagement and lead initiatives to improve satisfaction, retention, and organizational culture.
  • Oversee HR systems, records management, and reporting to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.
  • Oversee proper administration of leave programs and workers’ compensation in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to HR staff, supporting professional growth and team effectiveness.
  • Ability to travel as needed for business purposes; use of a company or personal vehicle.
