About The Position

The Second Judicial District Human Resources Division is seeking a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and people-focused Human Resources Coordinator. The Second Judicial District is a forward-thinking and innovative district court, with a team of four HR professionals providing support to 33 judicial officers and just over 250 employees. The primary responsibilities of this position include onboarding/ offboarding duties, completing HR transactions and administering Leaves of Absences. This position exercises considerable independent judgment and decision making and reports to the Second Judicial District Human Resources Supervisor. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a professional and fast-paced environment and communicating with employees, managers, judges, job applicants and members of the public. Typical hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, with some flexibility for remote work, if preferred. On-site work at the Ramsey County Courthouse, 15 W. Kellogg Blvd, Saint Paul, MN, and other court locations within Ramsey County will be occasionally required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or a related field and at least two years of experience in a Human Resources and/or Court Office or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • 4 years of experience performing Human Resources work.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of human resources.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, rules and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong proofreading, editing, and formatting skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and make recommendations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision making.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates onboarding and off-boarding activities.
  • Assists with biweekly payroll.
  • Administers employee leaves, FMLA, short-term and long-term leaves of absence. Collects and maintains confidential medical information. Answers employee and supervisor questions relating to leave policies.
  • Updates employee records in the Branch’s HRIS with timeliness and accuracy.
  • Answers employee questions regarding benefits and troubleshoots benefit related problems. Participates in statewide committees, workgroups, and task forces related to benefits programs.
  • Participates in statewide committees and workgroups focusing on onboarding, retention and HR transactions.
  • Advises agency staff, supervisors and administration on human resources policies and procedures. Researches applicable employment laws and/or labor union contracts and provides guidance and/or advice in accordance with all applicable labor laws, rules, contracts, and guidelines.
  • Maintains performance evaluation tracking system to ensure timely completion of performance evaluations.
  • Promotes and serve as a resource for diversity initiatives.
  • Provides assistance on various human resources projects.
