About The Position

Are you an organized, people-focused HR professional who thrives on accuracy, collaboration, and creating great employee experiences? Merchants Fleet is seeking an Associate, Human Resources to join our People & Talent team and play a critical role in supporting employees and candidates across the full employee lifecycle. In this role, you’ll provide high-quality operational and administrative HR support, ensure compliance and data integrity, and help deliver a seamless onboarding and employee experience.

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Foundational HR knowledge required
  • 2+ years of HR operations, coordination, or HR support experience

Nice To Haves

  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar certification preferred
  • Experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems (e.g., Dayforce, Greenhouse) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Accurately enter and maintain employee and new hire data in HRIS systems to ensure compliance and data integrity
  • Track and coordinate updates or creation of job descriptions based on employee changes
  • Process employee documentation for electronic signatures and secure recordkeeping
  • Respond confidentially and promptly to employment verifications, unemployment inquiries, and HR-related requests
  • Support onboarding by collecting I-9 documentation and assisting new hires with questions
  • Learn and support onboarding technologies and automation initiatives
  • Assist Talent Acquisition with interview scheduling and travel coordination to deliver a best-in-class candidate experience
  • Manage background check processes, partnering with vendors and new hires to ensure timely completion
  • Conduct regular audits of the HR intranet to ensure resources are current and accurate
  • Maintain job postings using talent management systems and third-party job boards
  • Assign and track required compliance training at hire and annually
  • Assist with documentation related to employee leaves of absence
  • Serve as backup for distributing offer letters in partnership with the People & Talent team
  • Respond to general HR inquiries and support special projects and employee engagement initiatives
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
