About The Position

The role of the Human Resources Assistant is to provide assistance with various human resources functions that will nurture a welcoming work culture for employees and aid in the company’s goal of becoming an Employer of Choice. This assistance will come in the form of positive interaction with employees and leadership alike, coordination of activities, gathering of information, assistance with interpreting policies and procedures, written and verbal communication, and problem solving, among others. The Human Resources Assistant will support the human resources team in a variety of focus areas, including some or all of the below activities. Recruiting/Talent Acquisition – assists with posting jobs, sourcing candidates, coordinating interviews with hiring managers, generating offer letters, facilitating on-boarding, and assisting with off-boarding process. Employee Engagement/Relations – assists with employee engagement initiatives such as All Hands meetings, recognition, special events and Inclusion activities; assists with assessing various employee relations issues, referring them to appropriate HR and leadership team members to effectively resolve concerns or implement new programs. Performance Management – assists with administration performance review and related processes. Training and Development – assists with various training and development programs. Safety – assists with safety initiatives, including coordination of monthly safety meetings, safety walk throughs, and safety-related training and compliance. Other – assists with benefits/leaves of absence, payroll/HRIS maintenance and reporting, and other aspects of human resources, as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) required; Associates Degree in human resources or related field preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills required.
  • Strong team and customer service orientation.
  • Proficient with verbal and written communication skills (English and Spanish).
  • Organizational skills, analytical skills, and strong attention to detail.
  • Time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Interpersonal, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Awareness of laws, regulations, and guidelines related to human resources.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software; strong Excel skills.
  • Ability to use computer keyboards and related technology (e.g., Teams, Slack, phone, computer systems, etc.)
  • Ability to regularly file documents and operate office equipment such as copiers, printers, scanning and fax machines.
  • Ability to be in the office on a regular basis 5 days a week, with ability to flex the schedule, as needed to facilitate work/life balance.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend and lift objects of 15 lbs. (Marginal function: 20 lbs.)

Nice To Haves

  • Human resource administration experience a plus, particularly in recruiting/talent acquisition and/or employee relations/engagement.
  • Experience in Manufacturing or Distribution environment preferred.
  • Exposure to HRIS/Applicant Tracking System(s).

Responsibilities

  • Assists with coordination of human resources related events and activities related to various functions within the department, the company and with external partners.
  • Assists human resource team with inquiries related to policies and procedures and other human resources matters; referring complex matters to appropriate leadership team members.
  • Assists with preparation of plans, policies, documents, and reports for various human resources functions, such as the Company’s employee handbook.
  • Assists with meetings, surveys and other activities to gather information for human resources-related initiatives; informs appropriate HR team members when additional investigation/activity is required.
  • Files and maintains records related to various human resources functions, such as hiring, termination, transfer, promotion, leave, compliance, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), affirmative action, and inclusion initiatives.
  • Cross trains with other human resources team members to ensure coverage in all areas at all times.
  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to human resources such as EEO, affirmative action, and employee/labor relations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
