About The Position

The Human Resources Assistant, under supervision, processes and maintains forms and records, provides detailed administrative information, and assists customers with HR processes, procedures, or services. A Presidential Proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposes a $100,000 fee on all new H‑1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025, and Texas A&M University–Central Texas will not pay this fee. Additionally, a moratorium issued by Governor Abbott on January 27, 2026, restricts the filing of new H‑1B petitions unless approved by the Texas Workforce Commission. Accordingly, if you will now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visa status this moratorium may affect our ability to employ you should you be selected as the final candidate. Applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer.

Requirements

  • Education – High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience – One year of experience.
  • Knowledge of – Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Ability to – Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Licensing / Professional Certification – None.
  • Physical Requirements – None.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in Human Resources.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Emma) and graphic design tools (e.g., Canva).

Responsibilities

  • Schedules appointments, greets customers, answers telephone, and distributes, delivers, and picks up mail for the department.
  • Assists new-hire employees with paperwork completion.
  • Assists in the processing of employee background checks and employment applications.
  • Examines employee files to answer inquiries.
  • Provides information to authorized persons.
  • Assists with HR projects, new hire orientation and wellness initiatives
  • Supports records imaging and maintains personnel and medical files.
  • Updates and maintains the university organizational chart, directory, & departmental newsletter.
  • Compiles data from personnel records and HR Systems and prepares reports.
  • Coordinates the orders for name tags and assist with departmental email account requests
  • Supports compliance efforts by assisting the Assistant Director with mandatory training notifications
  • Assist with data management and reporting.
  • Processes invoices for payment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
