About The Position

Works under general supervision of HR management using occasional exercise of independent judgement assisting with the administration of one or more functional areas of HR in accordance with well-defined policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the Tax Collector’s HR policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of applicable employment laws, rules, and regulations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent reading comprehension skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to use a computer, keyboard, automated HR systems and software, and general office equipment
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees and vendors
  • Ability to analyze data and proactively identify issues or errors
  • Work requires regular and reliable attendance
  • Work is typically sedentary but may require standing or walking up to 10% of the time
  • Some tasks may involve reaching, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing, kneeling, or lifting (up to 10 lbs.)
  • Associate’s degree; and
  • 3 years of general HR experience.
  • An equivalent level of education and experience may be substituted as permitted by law.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and/or verify accuracy of invoices, reports, and correspondence related to employee benefits and leave management programs
  • Compile and maintain reports related to HR statistics (including recruitment, promotions, etc.) in accordance with department procedures
  • Assist with recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding activities such as posting vacancies, reviewing applications and resumes, scheduling pre-employment testing and interviews, responding to applicant inquiries, facilitating/supporting the interview process, coordinating onboarding activities, and completing required new hire documentation
  • Verify and organize employee and candidate files to ensure compliance with HR policies and records laws
  • Assist with deployment and training of performance management and employee recognition programs
  • Answer routine questions regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits
  • Assist management with routine employee discipline issues, documentation, and performance improvement plans
  • Assist with administering compensation plans, such as merit and retention pay
  • Perform general HR department duties such as ordering HR supplies to maintain inventory and sorting and distributing mail
  • Assist in updating handbooks, organizational charts, department procedures, and other documents
  • Performs other duties as assigned
