GTG Peterbilt is seeking a hands-on Human Resource Manager who will actively manage the day-to-day HR operations while also contributing to strategic workforce initiatives. This is a working manager role — responsible for personally handling recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, and HR documentation. Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on HR experience.
  • Experience in a dealership, automotive, manufacturing, or skilled labor environment preferred.
  • Strong experience in recruiting for skilled trades (technicians highly preferred).
  • Experience handling employee relations and compliance independently.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal administrative support.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • High level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Comfortable working directly with leadership and frontline employees.

Nice To Haves

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting for technicians, sales, parts, and administrative roles.
  • Conduct interviews, coordinate hiring decisions, and extend offers.
  • Lead onboarding process including orientation, paperwork, and new hire follow-up.
  • Develop recruiting pipelines for high-demand roles (especially technicians).
  • Serve as the primary HR contact for all employees.
  • Address employee concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Conduct investigations and manage corrective action processes.
  • Coach managers on performance management and employee development.
  • Maintain employee records and HRIS systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Manage I-9s, E-Verify, workers’ comp, unemployment claims, and reporting.
  • Update and enforce company policies and handbook.
  • Administer health, retirement, and other benefits programs.
  • Coordinate open enrollment and employee benefits education.
  • Assist leadership with compensation reviews and pay adjustments.
  • Monitor market competitiveness for key positions.
  • Work with Operations Manager to coordinate required safety and compliance training.
  • Support leadership development and succession planning.
  • Identify skill gaps and recommend training solutions.
  • Assist in developing internal career paths.
  • Promote a positive, accountable, performance-driven culture.
  • Support employee recognition initiatives.
  • Partner with leadership to strengthen communication across departments.
  • Be visible, approachable, and proactive.
