About The Position

Supports the President and Chief Operating Officer by managing employees with regard to employee benefits, federal laws, and facilitates in the recruitment and hiring of new employees in accordance with the objectives outlined by the Board of Directors and the President. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITES Assist in determining the employee benefit plans each year Responsible for the enrollment of benefits and termination of benefits Coordinate the recruiting, selection and training of all personnel Responsible for day to day interaction with employees with regard to benefits, claims issues, etc Responsible for FMLA, STD, WC and PTO Conduct new employee orientation to acquaint them with the agency policies, benefits and Employee Handbook Responsible for creating the Annual Performance Reviews and Employee Engagement surveys of the staff employees Responsible for updating the Employee Handbook as needed Responsible for maintaining personnel files in Work Smart Responsible for sending out and following up on annual Performance Reviews Responsible for making the compensation changes Responsible for monitoring daily attendance for staff employees Complete Employers 'First Report' on Worker Compensation Claims Responsible for counseling all employees on continuing education and professional development Responsible to organize in house education courses as needed QUALIFICATIONS Must have knowledge of benefits, medical, pharmacy, dental, vision, life, and disability coverages and be able to education employees on coverages Must know the federal laws regarding FMLA, COBRA and FLSA Must be able to keep confidences and personnel information confidential Must be able to have “difficult” conversations with coworkers/peers/staff, etc. Must to able to understand FMLA, STD, WC and how the “leave absences” interact Good to have formal negotiation/mediation skills training Nice to have insurance industry background Excellent written and oral communication skills Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Products Bachelor’s Degree required At least three years’ experience in similar position Management skills and ability to communicate effectively with people High level of organizational ability PHR or SPHR Designation or willing to obtain PHYSICAL DEMANDS The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and stoop.
