About The Position

The Human Resource Generalist supports the mission of Rock Valley Credit Union (RVCU) by providing accurate, consistent, and employee-focused HR operations that enable a positive workplace experience and organizational effectiveness. Reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources, this role serves as a key operational partner in delivering core HR functions that support compliance, efficiency, and employee engagement. The HR Generalist is responsible for payroll administration, HR-related assessments, Banzai program coordination, policy and handbook maintenance, and the creation and upkeep of job descriptions and career site content. This position plays a critical role in ensuring HR processes are executed accurately, policies remain current, and employees and leaders receive timely and reliable HR support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Communication, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2–4 years of experience in human resources or a related administrative role
  • Experience with payroll processing and HRIS systems
  • Working knowledge of HR policies, employment practices, and compliance requirements
  • Approachable, empathetic, and professional in all employee interactions.
  • Communicates clearly and consistently with employees, leaders, and external partners.
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in payroll and documentation.
  • Effectively manages multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Takes ownership of assigned responsibilities and follows through on commitments.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement and supports implementation of solutions.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of employee, member, and organizational information.
  • Demonstrates integrity, dependability, and professionalism in all situations.

Responsibilities

  • Administer bi-weekly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
  • Maintain payroll records, resolve discrepancies, and partner with Finance and the Director of Human Resources on audits and reporting.
  • Support HRIS data accuracy, updates, and reporting related to employee records and payroll.
  • Assist in maintaining, updating, and communicating HR policies and the employee handbook under the direction of the Director of Human Resources.
  • Monitor changes in employment laws and regulations and support updates to policies and practices as needed.
  • Ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures across the organization.
  • Coordinate and administer various employee assessments and HR tools used for hiring, development, and performance support.
  • Support the administration and ongoing maintenance of the Banzai financial wellness program, including coordination, content updates, and internal communication.
  • Assist with tracking participation, outcomes, and program effectiveness.
  • Create, update, and maintain accurate job descriptions in collaboration with department leaders and the Director of Human Resources.
  • Ensure job descriptions reflect current responsibilities, competencies, and organizational needs.
  • Maintain and update career site content to ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment with RVCU’s employer brand.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee HR-related questions, providing guidance or escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Partner with the Director of Human Resources on HR initiatives, projects, and process improvements.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and employee lifecycle activities as assigned.
