About The Position

Position Summary The Human Resources Generalist acts as a point of contact to internal and external customers on a wide range of subject matters including, but not limited to: benefits, HR-related paperwork, HR policies and procedures. This part-time, non-exempt position reports to the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources and is located on the Mequon, Wisconsin campus. Remote work is available for this position. This is a temporary position.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and skill in use of computers, including Microsoft products, and software common to the human resources profession
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to develop and deliver presentations
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Knowledge and understanding of a variety of benefit programs including but not limited to health insurance, disability insurance, life insurance, retirement, flexible spending accounts, unemployment, etc.
  • Knowledge and understanding of employment law and other federal and state regulations as they apply to human resources and the university
  • Ability to relate to and live the mission and guiding principles of Concordia University and The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod
  • Friendly, outgoing, attention to detail, while capable of dealing with and guarding confidential information.
  • Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or business management or a closely related field or 2 years of human resource related experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Process qualifying event changes and benefit paperwork submissions (HSA, 403b, etc)
  • Assist in administering the University's leave program including FMLA and disability and benefit programs
  • Advise applicants in benefit plans and assist employees with HR related questions and concerns
  • Assist in the accurate and timely completion of 5 semi-monthly payrolls; hourly (2), salary, adjunct/coach, student
  • Support the HR department with special projects and functions; may including assisting with conducting survey completions (i.e. IPEDS, CUPA, etc. ) & budgeting
  • Cross train with peers on benefits and verifications of employment to be able to respond as needed to inquiries and or assist in the absence of other team members
  • Ensure university compliance with federal and state employment laws as well as other compliance requirements
  • Other related duties as assigned
