About The Position

The University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) is seeking qualified candidates for a Human Resources Coordinator II position. The CECS HR Coordinator II position will provide direct HR support for managers and employees by delivering HR services using a working knowledge of all applicable policies and procedures and leveraging Workday to complete transactions. The HR Coordinator II also will field questions on HR practices and strategies and/or escalate to the HR Partner or HR Director. The position will also provide broad Workday expertise and process support. HR Coordinators may support all employee types, or have a more dedicated focus for supporting staff, faculty, students, temporary employees, grad assistants, or postdocs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6) .
  • Applicant must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer, as sponsorship is not available for this position, now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of human resources experience
  • Demonstrated ability to provide frontline HR customer service to stakeholders, including faculty, staff, or students.
  • Experience with high‑volume data entry or HR transaction-processing in a large organization.
  • Experience using Workday or a similar system for HR transactions.
  • Familiarity with UCF policies and organizational structures is a plus.
  • Relevant Human Resources degree or certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, etc.).
  • Strong data accuracy and tracking skills for managing complex, multi‑step HR actions.
  • Clear, confident, and professional communication skills, including the ability to follow up proactively and engage with customers in a direct and respectful manner.
  • Strong initiative and ownership of their work, demonstrating confidence in decision‑making and a willingness to ask questions or seek clarity when faced with complex HR scenarios.
  • Values teamwork and open communication, partnering with colleagues in a supportive, solutions‑focused environment to ensure smooth and accurate HR operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide frontline customer service functions to assigned department chairs, faculty, and staff by maintaining high level customer relationships.
  • Facilitates all hiring needs of contracted employees including, GRA’s, GTA's, Federal Workstudy, Hourly Hires, Adjuncts, visiting scholars and contingent workers within the College of Engineering and Computer Sciences.
  • Initiate contracted employee activity changes in Workday including compensation changes, period activity pays, promotions, additional jobs, dual comps, supervisor transfer, FQMS etc.
  • Complete and finalize all moderately complex offboarding needs for contract employees such as requested terminations for GTA’s, GRA’s, Adjuncts, Post Doctoral etc.
  • Monitors help workspace and CECS HR Inbox complete all moderately complex assigned HR transactions.
  • Oversees timekeeping processes and assists HR Coordinator I’s to manage timekeeping actions as required.
  • Maintains ongoing sensibility of personnel/staff actions occurring within the Department beginning with requisitions, candidate's pools, pre-hire updates, updated reports of active employees LOA’s, upcoming terminations and completed terminations.
  • Complete all administrative HR tasks that may arise especially during high season from the Dean, Associate Deans, Chairs, Faculty, HR Coordinators III’s, HR Partner and HR Director.
