About The Position

The Health Unit Coordinator/Nursing Assistant (HUC NA) role has a dual focus, combining the responsibilities of a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) and a Nursing Assistant (NA). This individual serves as a member of the interdisciplinary patient care team, supporting patients with activities of daily living and performing patient care skills as delegated by a licensed nurse, adhering to the Ohio Board of Nursing Scope of Practice. The HUC NA also collaborates with unit leadership to coordinate the day-to-day activities of the patient care unit, which includes processing patient records and maintaining ongoing communication with nursing staff, physicians, and interdepartmental personnel. Additionally, the HUC NA acts as a resource for physicians and other healthcare team members regarding the electronic medical record. This role requires maintaining and demonstrating knowledge, skill, and ability in delegated tasks, supporting department operational needs, and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of KH Health Coordinator training upon hire into role
  • Successful completion of KH Nursing Assistant Orientation upon hire into role
  • Certification in CPR/BLS
  • Must have one of the following: Six months experience as a nursing assistant in a hospital or a long-term care facility; Completion of Nursing Assistant course in the last six months; Nursing student or listed as pre-nursing as shown on transcripts; Current employee with Kettering Health

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary patient care team
