About The Position

The Health Unit Coordinator/Nursing Assistant (HUC NA) has a dual focus, combining the Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) and Nursing Assistant (NA) roles, and serves as a member of the interdisciplinary patient care team. This role supports patients with activities of daily living and performs patient care skills as delegated by the licensed nurse within the Ohio Board of Nursing Scope of Practice. The HUC NA also collaborates with unit leadership to coordinate the day-to-day activities of the patient care unit, including processing patient records and maintaining ongoing communication with nursing staff, physicians, and interdepartmental personnel. They serve as a resource for physicians and other members of the health care team for the electronic medical record, and are responsible for maintaining and demonstrating knowledge, skill, and ability of delegated tasks, supporting department operational needs, and performing other assigned duties. Kettering Health is a not-for-profit system comprising 14 medical centers and over 120 outpatient facilities in southwest Ohio, dedicated to promoting and restoring health with a commitment to patient safety and exceptional care.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of KH Health Coordinator training upon hire into role.
  • Successful completion of KH Nursing Assistant Orientation upon hire into role.
  • Certification in CPR/BLS.
  • Six months experience as a nursing assistant in a hospital or a long-term care facility OR Completion of Nursing Assistant course in the last six months OR Nursing student or listed as pre-nursing as shown on transcripts OR Current employee with Kettering Health.

Responsibilities
