About The Position

The Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Specialist supports programs and initiatives that promote a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace across Plaskolite operations. This role partners with plant leadership and employees to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, identify potential risks, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance. Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
  • OSHA 30 certification required.
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience (internship experience accepted).
  • Knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards.
  • Hazard identification and risk assessment (JSA/JHA).
  • Basic incident reporting and investigations.
  • PPE assessment and selection.
  • Understanding of ergonomics and industrial hygiene fundamentals.
  • Experience conducting safety inspections and audits.
  • Ability to deliver training (e.g., toolbox talks, orientations).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong observation and reporting accuracy.
  • Ability to respectfully address unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Solid time‑management and task‑execution abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Support and implement Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) programs that ensure a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, and leadership teams to identify hazards, assess risks, and drive continuous safety improvement.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through training, inspections, and consistent engagement with employees across all levels.
  • Support the development and maintenance of HSE programs, policies, and procedures ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct and administer safety orientations for new hires; deliver ongoing HSE training for employees and contractors.
  • Perform routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments; recommend corrective actions to mitigate hazards.
  • Investigate workplace incidents and near‑misses, document findings, and support corrective/preventive action plans.
  • Maintain all HSE records, including incident reports, training logs, permits, and regulatory documentation.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness activities, including drills and incident response support.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance to evaluate process and equipment changes for safety and environmental impacts.
  • Monitor and analyze HSE performance metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Support environmental programs such as waste management, chemical inventory, sustainability initiatives, and regulatory reporting (as applicable).
  • Participate in HSE committees, share best practices, and uphold company safety values.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
