About The Position

Position Summary: The HSE Specialist will provide technical and regulatory expertise to ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations by driving continuous improvement of Silver Eagle’s HSE policies, standards and programs. Job Duties and Responsibilities: HSE Compliance Training: Delivers new-hire HSE orientation and regulatory compliance training Delivers skills level HSE training based on job descriptions and needs assessments (i.e. Forklift, Manual Lifting, Defensive Driving, Chemical Safety, etc.) HSE & Security Compliance Assurance: Conducts workplace HSE audits and inspections in both marketplace and branch locations to ensure regulatory compliance (OSHA, FMCSA, TCEQ, etc.) Partnered with HR, IT and Facilities Management teams, ensures that facility security protocol (perimeter gate security, badging, visitor oversight, video surveillance, etc.) are in place and enforced Emergency Action Planning: Ensures that there is a current EAP (Emergency Action Plan) in place Ensures that members of ERT (Emergency Response Teams) are identified and competent in their roles Serves as the HSE representative on the corporate ERT Incident / Claims Management: Leads incident management efforts, including injury care and claims administration In conjunction with function supervisor and HSE Department, leads investigations, root cause analysis and corrective action development after losses to employees, equipment, the environment or company assets Inputs incident data into centralized database and reports to leadership team on company HSE performance and trend analysis HSE Communications: Develops and delivers branch safety meetings to all departments Participates in safety committee processes to evaluate HSE programs, organizational risks / hazards, and common accidents or incidents FMCSA Compliance Oversight: Supports the upkeep of driver qualification files (medical card, DL, MVR, etc.) for all CMV operators (SRs, ASRs, AMs, MMs, Shop) Assists in administering the substance abuse testing program to ensure compliance with both FMCSA and company standards Supporting the compliance of oversight of daily FMCSA requirements (DVIR, HOS, etc.) Vehicle Telematics Program Oversight: Monitors events and trends and supporting supervisors and managers with coaching drivers Communicates and supports the review and corrective action planning for high priority events and unsafe driving trends Works closely with operating units and vendors to ensure the telematic system functions properly. Other Duties: Responds to DOT Verification of Employment questionnaires Performs other duties as directed by supervisor

Requirements

  • 2+ years HSE-relevant experience, required
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulatory codes: OSHA, EPA, NFPA, FMSCA
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 including Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Demonstrable experience in HSE software applications
  • Strong leadership & interpersonal skills
  • Advanced ability to coordinate tasks and work independently
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Conflict resolution skills and problem-solving ability
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills
  • In person travel within the service territories of Silver Eagle required
  • A valid Texas Driver’s License required
  • Talk, hear, and see (including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus)
  • Performs light to medium work exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
  • This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary
  • Requires full-time, in-office attendance
  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
  • Work hours will vary daily due to business needs

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary, education, preferably in the behavioral sciences or specific to Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment, preferred
  • Credentialed in the field of HSE (e.g. CSP, ASP, COSS, CSHO), preferred
  • Member or affiliation with an accredited Safety organization (ASSP, NSC, etc.), preferred
  • Certified auditor, preferred
  • Previous experience in transportation / beverage distribution sector, a strong plus
