Under the Supervision of the HSE Director, the HSE Representative monitors workplace activities to promote and ensure employee compliance with applicable safety regulations and facility compliance regarding environmental regulation.

Requirements

  • Health and safety certification required, or to be acquired within the first 6 months to 1 year in position
  • 0-2 years of related experience preferred
  • Knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
  • Has knowledge of all government and applicable industry safety regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct training.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to travel throughout facility to conduct safety inspections.
  • Occasional Overnight Travel.
  • Prolonged sitting, walking, and standing.
  • Occasional climbing on ladder, scaffold, or stairs.
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional pushing and pulling up to 75 pounds.
  • Note: Material handling equipment is available.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
  • Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards.
  • Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
  • Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
  • Inspects safety equipment; recommends replacements.
  • Drafts and implements internal safety standards and policies.
  • Interact with shop personnel on a regular basis to enhance the safety culture.
  • Assist in the development of annual HSE goals, objectives, and programs.
  • Organize and participate in safety meetings, including safety committee meetings.
  • Supervise the completion of incident investigation, assist in preparation of root cause analysis; assist in preparation of corrective action plans and final incident closeout reports.
  • Provide appropriate information and guidance for compliance with local and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Assist in injury management of occupational injuries
  • Assist in emergency management in the event of fire, explosion, severe storms, etc.
  • Complete safety, health, and environmental compliance tasks assigned by the HSE Director or General Manager.
  • Interface with management, approved consulting firms, vendors, and contractors in order to complete annual HSE compliance reports.
  • Place orders for specific safety related items as required (and/or coordinate w/ purchasing & receiving).
  • Coordinate scheduling of on-site safety shoes and prescription safety glasses.
  • Participate w/HR in Health Fairs and organize blood drives.
  • SWPPP administration and sampling
  • RCRA Hazardous Waste Management
  • Lead sustainability efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned
