The HSE Intern/Co-op will support the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) team in driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety performance, reduce risk, and promote a strong safety culture across the site. This role sits at the intersection of HSE and Process Excellence, providing hands-on experience with operational improvement tools, training development, data analytics, and field-based safety initiatives. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in health and safety, Environment, Engineering, or related field at an accredited college or university with the expectation that you will complete your current degree by the Spring of at 2029
  • Must be able to relocate to the office location and work 40hrs/week, Monday-Friday, for the full duration of the co-op/internship
  • Must be enrolled in school the semester throughout the full duration of your internship/co-op with Sanofi
  • Must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. and not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually require future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of HSE programs, policies, and standards.
  • Assist with incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and development of corrective/preventive actions.
  • Conduct safety observations, risk assessments, and workplace inspections alongside HSE professionals.
  • Participate in HSE champion meetings; assist in preparing materials and tracking action items.
  • Help develop and deliver safety training content, toolbox talks, and awareness materials.
  • Maintain HSE documentation, records, and dashboards to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Support process mapping, gap assessments, and workflow optimization within HSE activities.
  • Contribute to Lean/Six Sigma–style initiatives, including development of standard work and visual management tools specific to HSE.
  • Collect, analyze, and present HSE performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Assist in the creation or enhancement of digital tools, templates, and standardized processes for the HSE team.
  • Partner with cross-functional groups (Operations, Quality, Facilities, etc.) to align HSE improvement projects with broader site objectives.
  • Help design communication materials to promote safety culture (posters, newsletters, campaigns, etc.).
  • Participate in safety-related events, audits, and engagement activities.
  • Support new program rollouts through data collection, document updates, and stakeholder coordination.
