About The Position

The role of HSE Construction Site Officer directly supports the company’s mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality for the world. As the HSE Construction Site Officer, you will be responsible to monitor and control all HSE matters related to project team members and contractors ensuring that the Project complies with the project requirement i.e. specification, safety code, and other policies/guidelines related to the project and assess risk, and design strategies to reduce potential hazards within an assigned wind farm. During project execution of projects, you will be responsible for HSE, in particular on the project sites where the wind farms are constructed and also in respect to the personnel employed in that context (project managers and site managers, commissioning and erection staff, service technicians, engineers, crane contractors and other subcontractors for erection work, civil construction work, etc.).

Requirements

  • AA or AS degree, or experience with the related discipline with equivalent
  • 1-5 years of HSE experience is preferred, including at least 1-3 years in dedicated training, teaching capacity
  • Maintain current certificates and professional development requirements to enable the role of instructor.
  • Fluency in English and French is mandatory. Spanish and/or German is a plus.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others to obtain information, assess needs, and effectively transfer knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, and Database usage required.
  • Familiarity with video production and editing.
  • Ability to travel domestic and international locations to project sites and on business as required with the ability to obtain a passport to work in Canada/USA and other international locations. Travel 75% of the time.
  • Must be able to work in Canada with no Company sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Ability to successfully complete all Canadian regulatory laws surrounding pre-employment screening requirements.
  • Ability to move and manipulate up to 23kg (50 pounds), climb vertical ladders, and work at heights above 100+ meters (300+ feet). Ability to meet specific weight limits of 120 kg (265lbs) max in order to utilize climbing equipment.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical administered by a medical examiner to ensure the ability to safely perform job functions and meet the physical demands of the position
  • Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess a full valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy. This position will be subject to periodic driver’s abstract checks to confirm continued insurability.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of and commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
  • Properly use applicable safety equipment, including but not limited to eye protection, hearing protectors, steel-toe boots, and hard hats. Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Speak and understand English fluently to effectively communicate safety and job-related information, follow safety instructions, and collaborate with English-speaking supervisors and team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish and/or German is a plus.
  • Familiarity with video production and editing.

Responsibilities

  • Works to maintain global alignment for HSE Management Systems and daily HSE activities.
  • Supports cross-functional teams in the planning, facilitation, and completion of HSE projects.
  • Works with functional leaders to review analytical data of HSE related incidents.
  • Interfaces with clients and customers as needed in a manner that reflects positively on the company.
  • Supports HSE Director and Officers with direction to assure that a system is in place to monitor compliance with applicable federal, state, local regulations during the Project Management phase of operations.
  • Interprets and implements the Global HSE requirements.
  • Works in conjunction with HSE team(s) to implement policies and procedures at the site level.
  • Creates records and reports for functional management areas indicating results and conclusions with appropriate recommendations for organizational implementation.
  • Provides functional guidance to assist with process controls using Root Cause Analysis (RCA/8D) methods and proactive analytical problem solving for project management activities.
  • Liaises with our Supply/Engineering/Project Management/Regional HSE team regarding daily issue
