About The Position

The University of New Mexico School of Medicine, Department of Cell Biology and Physiology is currently recruiting for a HS Research Technician. The Resta laboratory investigates: Mechanisms of hypoxia-induced pulmonary hypertension Vascular reactivity Oxidant signaling and mitochondrial function in vascular smooth muscle Endothelial regulation of vascular tone Duties include but may not be limited to: · Perform basic in vivo and ex vivo vascular function outcomes in mice and rats. · Perform and troubleshoot experimental protocols using a variety of techniques, including but not limited to immunofluorescence confocal microscopy, PCR, western blotting, cell isolation/purification, and primary cell culture. · Maintain accurate experimental records, enter data into shared systems, and analyze data. · Support lab organization, ordering, cleaning, and maintaining equipment. · Manage laboratory safety procedures. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of directly related student practicum or equivalent experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or another biological or health-related field.
  • Previous working experience in a research laboratory.
  • Knowledge of scientific research methodology, laboratory procedures, and chemical safety.
  • Experience maintaining supply inventory, and collecting and organizing research data.
  • Experience working with cell culture and/or animal models.
  • High level of organization and attention to detail in documentation of research methodology, protocols, and procedures.
  • Experience with data organization/analysis (e.g., Microsoft Excel, GraphPad) and storage systems.

Responsibilities
