This position is designed to create a pro-active pathway for high school seniors to enter the healthcare field and receive training while in school and prior to obtaining a diploma. Following the successful completion of a didactic training program, student phlebotomists will perform basic venipunctures and standard phlebotomy collections/processes under close supervision of an experienced phlebotomist. This position would prepare the student to apply for and transition to a standard phlebotomy role immediately upon graduation at which point this role will reopen for a new applicant. Maintaining this role requires successful completion of the phlebotomy training program and passing both a practical and written exam. Additional responsibilities are to provide general department support by stocking, cleaning, reviewing inventory and performing other duties as assigned. Hours scheduled will be following Kentucky Child Labor Laws. Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.
