About The Position

We’re looking for an experienced HRIS / Payroll Specialist to own and optimize our HR systems and payroll operations. This role will manage employee data, payroll, and compliance for a multi-state workforce, including Illinois, New York City, California, and Texas, while driving process improvements and system efficiencies. You’ll partner closely with Recruiting, Operations, and Finance to ensure a seamless employee experience from hiring through offboarding.

Requirements

  • 1-3+ years of HRIS and payroll experience managing a multi-state employee population.
  • Hands-on experience administering Rippling.
  • Working knowledge of state and local payroll and employment requirements, especially in CA, NYC, IL, and TX.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced, growing organization.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary administrator for Rippling, maintaining accurate employee records and system configurations.
  • Build and manage automated workflows supporting onboarding, offboarding, role changes, and compensation updates.
  • Maintain HR documentation and system process controls.
  • Process weekly payroll for employees across IL, NYC, CA, and TX, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage payroll reconciliations, tax filings, wage reporting, and garnishments across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for payroll and HRIS questions for employees in all managed states.
  • Streamline hiring, offer, and onboarding processes in partnership with recruiting and operations teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and data integrity across HR operations.
  • Create and maintain reports and dashboards to support leadership and compliance needs.
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws impacting employees in IL, NYC, CA, and TX.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent and compliant HR practices across all locations.
