About The Position

The Campus Recreation Building Services Staff is an hourly position that is responsible for assisting the Facilities Manager in facility operations, maintenance, and minor repairs.

Requirements

  • Maintain current certifications in CPR/AED and 1st Aid certifications within 30 days from being hired Courses provided by the Department.
  • Maintain a positive, cooperative, and customer service-oriented attitude that enhances a fun work environment; wear staff apparel, nametag, and maintain clean, professional atmosphere.
  • Serve as a positive representative while participating in university and departmental activities.
  • Must be able to work at least 30 hours per week – exception can be made on a case-by-case basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Diagnostic and repair skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance procedures in and around indoor and outdoor facilities on a scheduled basis.
  • Serve as a resource to the department by inspecting the facilities and equipment for safety and normal function.
  • Reporting damaged or malfunctioning machines or equipment and prevent dangerous situations from happening by closing areas of concern until necessary repairs are completed.
  • Arranges sport equipment, goals, tables and chairs, and other equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for special events.
  • Assists skilled maintenance workers with projects (e.g. painting lines on sport fields, refinishing wood floors, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Uses small hand tools, small power tools, large floor cleaning machines and floor refinishing machines in making minor maintenance repairs and maintaining sport facilities and equipment.
  • Maintains tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating conditions.
  • Performs a wide variety of general and semi-skilled maintenance activities (e.g. floor refinishing, simple carpentry, painting, replacing light bulbs etc.) for the purpose of completing projects within established time frames.
  • Follows all applicable safety rules and procedures.
  • Picks up and delivers supplies and materials throughout the building and across the campus.
  • Maintains inventory and submits requests for supplies; tests and evaluates new supplies and equipment.
  • Performs a wide variety of semi-skilled cleaning activities (e.g. floor cleaning, glass, washing, vacuuming) for the purpose of completing projects within established time frames.
  • Operates cleaning machines during execution of duties.
