About The Position

The HR Specialist will be a key role in entering data, maintaining data and a broad range of responsibilities related to HR systems. Maintains HR systems for employment and employee related data in collaboration with other positions in the HR department. Translates data into reporting solutions that can influence informed business decisions for a wide range of groups throughout the University. Supports overall system performance, maintenance and data integrity, including ensuring information security, testing updates, and improving process efficiency. Works to improve efficiency and the user experience with HR systems. Supports employees and end-users of HR systems.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive, in-depth knowledge of regulations and overall business operations, principles and practices generally found within Human Resources and Payroll.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with individuals, groups and in a presentation format, strong listening skills.
  • Excellent collaboration skills. Ability to work independently and exhibit flexibility in managing tasks, processes and projects.
  • Intermediate skill and proficiency with Microsoft products, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with HRIS systems including report-writing with strong analytical skills such as developing pivot tables and reporting and vlookup, etc. preferred. Experience with ADP strongly preferred.
  • Ability to exercise critical human relations skills, including integrity, compassion and empathy, while establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a diverse group of employees, students, and the public.
  • Experience with payment and invoice management with strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously and to work to a project plan.
  • Comprehensive, in-depth knowledge of regulations and overall business operations affecting Human Resources.
  • Demonstrates high ethical standards and maintenance of confidentiality.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • 2 - 3 years of relevant HR experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with HRIS systems including report-writing with strong analytical skills such as developing pivot tables and reporting and vlookup, etc. preferred. Experience with ADP strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains new and updated employment information on new hires and existing employees in HR systems, adhering to deadlines for processing.
  • Collaborates as needed with hiring managers, finance and other HR partners to successfully and accurately maintain employee information and support processes and outcomes through payroll and other reporting.
  • Assists employees with the use of employee self-service and the respective HR modules, such as employment, ensuring oversight to data integrity to policy and practice.
  • Processes system invoices and payments, maintaining effective balancing and tracking for validation, accuracy and identifying any issues that need to be escalated.
  • Evaluates and updates data to support data integrity and integration.
  • Supports Talent and Student Employment department, including on-boarding/off-boarding activities, documentation collection and processing, and record management.
  • Documents HR system process and procedures and expected results.
  • Develops and conducts training, including help-guides and otherwise instructs one-on-one on the use of HR systems.
  • Maintain HR Compliance items including Worker’s Compensation logs, and other HR data to ensure employee files are maintained confidentially.
  • Provides back up support to other department representatives as needed.
