About The Position

The HR Specialist plays a key role in supporting day-to-day human resources operations with a strong focus on payroll processing, onboarding, recruiting coordination, and employee engagement initiatives. This position ensures accuracy, compliance, and positive employee experience across the organization. Reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources, the HR Specialist partners closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to support strategic initiatives and maintain efficient HR processes. This role serves as a primary point of contact for employees regarding payroll, benefits, and HR policies, while also assisting with compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement of HR programs and systems. This is a Hybrid position, based in Boston, Massachusetts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2-3 years of experience in an HR or administrative related field.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and work with sensitive information.
  • Proven planning and organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and diplomatically with all levels of staff verbally and in writing.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Suite, Human Resources Information Systems, and the general ability to learn and adapt to new technology.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in managing payroll, state tax registrations and timekeeping is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Payroll
  • Process accurate and timely semi-monthly payroll using Paylocity
  • Review and audit payroll data, including timekeeping, deductions, and tax withholdings
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries promptly
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with applicable wage and hour laws
  • Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
  • Assist with the recruitment lifecycle, including intake meetings with hiring managers, job requisition creation, external job postings, job description support, and conducting pre-screen interviews and assessments.
  • Manage onboarding activities, including background checks, I-9 compliance, new hire orientation, employee training coordination, and partnering with IT to ensure equipment and system access are ready.
  • HR Operations & Employee Support
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee inquiries related to payroll, timekeeping, benefits, and general HR matters.
  • Maintain accurate and organized employee records, ensuring all required documentation and paperwork are complete and up to date.
  • HRIS & Process Improvement
  • Assist with HRIS enhancements, upgrades, integrations, data cleanup initiatives, and system improvements to increase efficiency and user adoption.
  • Employee Engagement
  • Coordinate and support employee engagement, well-being initiatives, and related activities to enhance company culture and employee satisfaction.
