Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in business administration, communications, education, or another related field.
  • One (1) year of professional experience performing at least two of the following HR functions\: managing employee benefits, employee hiring, onboarding, performance management, HR records management, or closely related duties.
  • Substitution\: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrate an exceptional understanding of access and engagement with a commitment to developing equitable practices.Strong organizational skills; ability to coordinate multiple activities, establish priorities, attend to detail, handle interruptions, manage time and follow-up.

  • This position requires an onsite presence on campus in downtown Denver three (3) days a week as well as occasional school events.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of experience utilizing PeopleSoft HCM or similar HR Management software experience
  • Two (2) years of experience in business administration, finance, accounting, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or other related experience.
  • Experience in a higher education setting
  • Knowledge of University of Colorado policies, Regents Rules and School policies
  • Experience processing bi-weekly and/or monthly payroll

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact (with support of HR manager) for HR inquiries via email, phone, Teams, or in person. Responds in a timely manner to provide accurate responses using inclusive and professional language.
  • Partner with various campus groups including Payroll, International Student & Scholar Services(ISSS), Student Employment, Central HR, Employee Services, and Employee Relations to fulfill HR-related requests.
  • Help maintain HR webpages with up-to-date resources, forms, and guidance.
  • Assist with generating, compiling and sending out reports, mass email communications, tracking employee records and trainings, maintaining paper and electronic files, and scheduling and hosting meetings.
  • Mail merges and sending out documents such as salary increase notifications, lecturer offer letters, etc.
  • Facilitate onboarding for new hires, rehires, and transfers including helping with job descriptions, managing postings, coordinating onboarding requirements with appropriate parties, ensuring completion of I9 and background check requirements, and management of personnel files in accordance with university policies and compliance.
  • Schedule New Employee Orientation and track completion of required online trainings and professional development plans.
  • Partner with the HR Manager to ensure exit processes are completed efficiently and with care for departing employees.
  • Provide search support in CU Careers & Handshake o Create, maintain and close out job requisitions. o Change status for applicants as they move through the review process.
  • Correspond with applicants; answer questions from applicants regarding the application process.
  • Assists the search committee by providing applicant review matrices, reviewing interview questions for appropriateness, scheduling interviews with candidates, requesting reference check reports, and communicating regret notices to candidates.
  • Point person for student employment in the SEHD
  • Provide recruitment support for student positions
  • Process student hires, manage student appointment continuations, short work breaks, and exits.
  • Process student time collection and leave time.
  • Track HR data in Human Capital Management (HCM), spreadsheets, and other systems; prepare routine and ad hoc reports as requested.
  • Support annual merit review and salary adjustment processes, including distributing forms, tracking completion, preparing letters, and submitting evaluations.
  • Maintain working knowledge of university, state, and federal policies, and how these intersect with daily HR processes.
  • Assist in development and updating SEHD HR and payroll procedures that ensure consistent, compliant practices.
  • Process transactions related to hiring, additional payments, promotions, terminations, work study awards, etc.
  • Point person for time collection and leave usage for SEHD personnel including coordinating with the CU Employee Services Leave Team regarding FMLA, parental leave, FAMLI leave, leave without pay, and workers comp.
  • Audits biweekly and monthly payroll registers and work with HR team as well as Assistant Dean to solve discrepancies.
  • Prepare and maintain HR correspondence templates, procedure manuals, and other HR process documentation.
  • Partners with HR manager and team members to recommend process improvement opportunities.
