About The Position

Position Purpose: The Human Resources Manager’s primary function is to lead all HR functions for a mid-sized manufacturing organization. This is a department of one responsible for compliance, workforce support, recruiting, benefits, culture, and employee relations. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, approachable, and comfortable balancing strategic HR leadership with daily tactical responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including direct responsibility for compliance, benefits, recruiting, and employee relations.
  • Strong knowledge of Colorado labor laws, wage & hour regulations, and employment law fundamentals.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or similar hands-on environments.
  • Proficiency with standard HR documentation and HRIS systems, Paylocity preferred.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust with employees at all levels.
  • Read, write, and be conversant in the English language required.
  • Team oriented required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field.
  • HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) are a plus.

  • Experience functioning as an HR department of one.

Responsibilities

  • HR Compliance & Labor Law Ensure compliance with all Colorado and federal labor laws, including wage & hour (FLSA), ADA, FMLA, OSHA, EEO, and CO Equal Pay Act requirements. Update and maintain HR policies, employee handbook, and required postings. Conduct internal audits of personnel files, I-9s, and HR documentation. Lead compliance training for supervisors and employees. Ensure ISO 9001 compliance related to Employee Competency procedures.
  • Benefits & Insurance Administration Manage health, dental, vision, life, disability, and supplemental insurance programs. Serve as primary liaison to brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators. Oversee open enrollment, eligibility tracking, claims assistance, and plan communications. Review benefits offerings annually and support renewal decisions.
  • Payroll Oversight Coordinate with finance or external payroll providers to ensure accurate, timely payroll processing. Validate timekeeping, resolve discrepancies, and maintain payroll records. Support compensation changes, deductions, garnishments, and audit requests.
  • Recruiting & Talent Acquisition Manage full-cycle recruiting for hourly, technical, and salaried roles. Develop job descriptions, post openings, screen applicants, coordinate interviews, and manage offers. Lead onboarding and orientation to support successful new-hire integration. Build relationships with local talent pipelines (trade schools, community organizations, etc.). Manage performance appraisal process and communication.
  • Employee Relations & Culture Serve as a trusted, accessible HR contact for employees and supervisors. Provide guidance on performance management, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution. Support engagement initiatives, retention programs, and internal communication. Foster a respectful, safe, collaborative workplace culture rooted in company values.
  • HR Operations & Systems Maintain HRIS data, personnel files, and reporting accuracy. Track PTO, attendance points, leave management (FMLA, ADA, personal leave, WC), and documentation. Ensure accurate job descriptions and organizational structure records. Manage workers’ compensation claims and coordinate return-to-work processes.
  • Safety & Compliance (Manufacturing Environment) Partner with safety coordinator and operations to support OSHA compliance, safety training, and incident reporting. Contribute to safety committees, audits, and continuous improvement efforts. Ensure required logs (OSHA 300, 300A) are maintained and posted. Administer Worker’s Compensation program including internal communication.
