Atlas Roofing Shingle and Underlayment is seeking a HR Generalist for Clinton, IA. HR Generalist Primary Responsibilities Ensures company follows federal and state labor laws Responsible for recruitment, testing, interviewing, background checks, employment reference checks, and entire hiring process of employees as needed Conducts maintenance of HR system including employee changes Ensures all proper documents are completed by new employees Coordinates all benefit enrollments, including record keeping and terminations Completes monthly reports Tracks Short Term Disability Processes unemployment claims and conducts unemployment hearings when necessary Acts as employee contact/resource and assists employment related questions Responsible for maintenance of Worker’s Compensation records and investigations Oversees FMLA records and tracking Assists Managers and Supervisors with coaching and counseling of employees Oversees new hire orientation process Maintains personnel, medical files and confidential data Ensures I-9 compliance and conducts I-9 audits Enters all new hires into ADP and E-Verify system Coordinates performance/wage review process Coordinates employee relations activities Updates policies and procedures as needed Assists in multi-location initiatives if necessary Investigates all incidents involving workplace violence, harassment and discrimination Responsible for insuring plant is in OSHA compliance and maintenance of all records Ensures all posting requirements are met for federal and state regulations Tracks employee weekly attendance violations and vacation usage Responsible for training of all employees yearly for sexual harassment and workplace violence Tracks turnover and make recommendations on reducing turnover Maintains and oversees that job descriptions are kept up to date Oversee terminations of employment activities and all disciplinary actions Completes any projects (such as standards or vision projects) as assigned by management Conducts open enrollment yearly and assists all employees with requested changes are completed Involved in the strategic management of the division Travels to all locations also includes company business for training opportunities and Human Resource meetings Consistent attendance is mandatory All other duties as assigned HR GENERALIST EXPERIENCE 2-3 years HR experience preferred HR GENERALIST KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Independent judgment required Judgment required during internal investigations Effective communication (verbal and written) Organizational and interpersonal skills Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality Positive example of leadership Promotes a climate of involvement, cooperation and teamwork Motivates and influences others in a positive manner Ability to plan work schedules Establishes goals and priorities Acts as a coach or mentor when needed Sets well defined outcomes for tasks Identify concepts and issues of a problem Apply sound judgment and reason to a solution Openly communicates and shares ideas Provides relevant and timely information in a clear manner Generate new ideas and strategies Provides innovative solutions to problems Follows through on projects in a timely manner Anticipates what needs to be done and proceeds without direction Fluent in English (Reading, Writing, Speaking) Ability to read, analyze financial reports and legal documents Knowledge of Word (Intermediate), Excel (Intermediate), Email and PeopleSoft computer programs.
