About The Position

Rite of Passage Team is hiring for a Human Resources Generalist at Lava Heights Academy in Toquerville, Utah. Lava Heights Academy is a residential treatment program that provides a safe, supportive and nurturing environment for vulnerable young women who are referred from juvenile courts and social service agencies both locally and across the country. The youth enter the program with a history of abuse, neglect, trauma, substance abuse, mental illness and violence. They graduate from Falcon Ridge Ranch as educated young women who have overcome challenges and have demonstrated making healthy choices for themselves and for their future. After 40 years of improving the lives of youth, Rite of Passage is looking for passionate advocates to continue the legacy of helping young people become successful adults. Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, business or related field
  • At least 2 years of Human Resources Experience to include employee relations, training and recruiting
  • Knowledge of Federal and State employment Law, Human Resources policies and practices, and state licensing requirements
  • Successful management experience
  • Good interpersonal skills to include the ability to interview potential employees
  • Must meet the requirements to be an eligible ROP driver: possess a current State Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years
  • Be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, physical, and TB test
  • Be able to pass a search of the child abuse central registry

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree and/or Professional HR Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Administers human resources plans and procedures for all site personnel over three campuses located in Toquerville, Virgin, and Brigham City, Utah.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Conducts recruiting efforts to maintain staffing for all departments by preparing and placing advertisements, coordinating and participating in job fairs, and using internal and external recruiting systems to identify the best qualified applicants.
  • Assists department supervisors in screening and selection of candidates.
  • Plans and implements all onboarding activities before and after hiring, to include coordinating New Hire Orientation in conjunction with the Site Trainer, building and maintaining electronic and paper files, submitting background check applications and monitors employee background status, and managing the HRIS.
  • Oversees the performance evaluation system to include ensuring 90 day and annual evaluations are completed, disciplinary actions are conducted fairly and in accordance with policy and focused on development, and investigations are conducted impartially.
  • Monitors timesheet management done by department heads, ensuring that all timesheets are correct and submitted on time.
  • Responds and assists with all pay concerns and inquiries.
  • Maintains employee files in accordance with company policy and state licensing requirements.
  • Assists Site Trainer with training management when required.
