About The Position

Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Generalist to join our HR Team in Hopewell, VA, and support the U.S. Manufacturing function. This position reports directly to the Senior HRBP. The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: Perform clerical and administrative HR duties, including document preparation, data entry, filing, and records management, in compliance with company policies and legal requirements Support labor relations activities, including maintaining union records, assisting with grievance tracking, and preparing documentation for investigations, hearings, and contract administration Serve as a point of contact for employee and union-related inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate communication Assist with onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle transactions, ensuring all documentation is complete and compliant Maintain and update HRIS systems with a high degree of accuracy Support recruitment and staffing activities, including scheduling interviews and processing candidate paperwork Assist with training coordination and tracking employee participation and compliance Ensure adherence to collective bargaining agreements, company policies, and applicable labor laws Provide administrative support to HR leadership and the Site Manager as needed

Requirements

  • Proven experience working in an administrative HR role, preferably in a unionized environment
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of labor relations processes and collective bargaining agreements
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage high volumes of documentation and deadlines
  • High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities
