About The Position

ECS is seeking an HR Generalist to work in our Fairfax, VA office. The HR Generalist supports complex employee and manager inquiries requiring policy interpretation, compliance review, and independent issue resolution. This role applies sound HR judgment, ensures consistent policy application, mitigates risk, and partners with HR leadership, Payroll, Benefits, and Legal as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years as an HR Generalist, HR Business Partner, HR Manager or a combination of these roles
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws (SCA, FMLA, FLSA, ADA, Title VII, etc.).
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a government contracting and multi-state environment.
  • Minimum 5 years experience supporting employee relations and performance matters.
  • Experience with HRIS platforms (ADP preferred).
  • Strong documentation, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for escalated and complex HR inquiries.
  • Interpret and apply company policies consistently and in alignment with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Provide guidance on HR system matters.
  • Processes paperwork for functional area(s) according to established procedures.
  • Document and track cases to ensure timely resolution and accurate recordkeeping.
  • Conduct intake and initial assessment of employee relations concerns.
  • Provide guidance on performance management and corrective actions.
  • Improves manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; coaching and counseling managers and employees.
  • Review involuntary separations for compliance, documentation sufficiency, and risk mitigation.
  • Escalate high-risk matters to HR Business Partners and Legal as appropriate.
  • Ensure consistent application of policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify compliance risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support audits, investigations, and documentation reviews.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to maintain compliance with employment laws and company standards.
  • Review separation documentation for accuracy and policy alignment.
  • Ensure compliance with final pay requirements and benefits notifications.
  • Coordinate with Payroll and IT to support timely processing and system access termination.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners and leadership to identify trends and recurring workforce issues.
  • Contribute to reporting and workforce metrics analysis.
  • Support process improvements and development of HR resources, templates, and guidance materials.
