About The Position

Position Summary: The Human Resources Generalist supports and contributes to all core human resources functions while developing professional-level HR expertise under the direct guidance and mentorship of the Director of HR Operations. This developmental role is designed for an early-career HR professional with a strong academic foundation-such as a Master's degree in I/O Psychology, Human Resources or MBA-who is seeking hands-on experience and long-term growth in Human Resources. The Generalist will assist with applying HR principles, interpreting policies, and supporting compliance, payroll, benefits, employee relations, HR systems, and training initiatives while progressively building independent judgment and capability. Key Responsibilities (Responsibilities are performed with training, oversight, and collaboration with the Director of HR Operations) HR Administration & Compliance Support company-wide HR compliance initiatives in accordance with federal, state, and local employment laws Apply HR principles and policies to day-to-day employee situations under guidance Assist with I-9 processing, audits, and employment eligibility documentation Maintain accurate, confidential employee records and HR documentation Assist with drafting, updating, and communicating HR policies and procedures Payroll, Benefits & Unemployment: Support payroll processing, audits, and data validation Assist with employee benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and employee communications Participate in unemployment claims preparation, documentation, and responses Coordinate information with payroll providers, benefits vendors, and external agencies Employee Relations & Performance Management: Support employee relations matters, including documentation and follow-up Participate in investigations and corrective action processes as trained Assist with performance review cycles and performance management processes Apply judgment in escalating issues appropriately and maintaining confidentiality HRIS, Training & Process Improvement: Support HRIS data entry, testing, implementation, and system audits Assist with HR reporting and data integrity Help develop, document, and maintain HR standard operating procedures (SOPs) Support onboarding, training coordination, and compliance tracking Assist with safety documentation and reporting

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivelent experience
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and apply feedback

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in lieu of experience, particularly in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Prior HR experience preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources
