The HR Generalist/Specialist plays a key role in fostering a positive, efficient, and values-driven workplace at Equal Justice Works. The HR Generalist/Specialist works across teams to implement systems that enhance the employee experience and uphold compliance standards. Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in Human Resources and/or Operations.
  • Comfort managing multiple timelines and priorities
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Fluency with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams platforms
  • A team-first orientation and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Comfort with flexibility and a growth mindset – your contribution may adapt to meet the moment as you progress professionally

Responsibilities

  • Assist the VP of Operations in building the systems, work environment, and culture that advance EJW’s values, priorities, and strategic goals
  • Manage benefits administration, including supporting the VP of Operations in working with benefits broker, enrolling employees in benefits plans, managing benefit changes, and communicating benefit information
  • Support the implementation of activities across the employee life cycle, including onboarding/offboarding employees, supporting new hire orientation process, and assisting in setting up and preparation of materials for onsite HR meetings and/or trainings with EJW staff
  • Support the implementation of EJW’s Talent Acquisition and Talent Management systems, including supporting interviews and the hiring process, implementing the organization’s performance management system, and supporting EJW’s staff training and professional development system
  • Work collaboratively with outsourced payroll services and manage payroll
  • Create and distribute internal communications regarding company policies, updates, and employee announcements
  • Manage our HRIS system in collaboration with our Operations Specialist
  • Assist with data cleansing/data integrity projects
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws, including maintaining employee records and updating policies, as needed
  • Regularly review company policies and procedures to ensure alignment with current employment laws and recommend necessary updates/changes to leadership
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records
