Located in ten states with more than 60 locations in operation or under development and approximately 2,000 employees, Pet Paradise continues to expand in the United States. We are currently searching for a Director of Employee Experience to join our collaborative Human Resources Team at our San Marco headquarters in Jacksonville! Qualified candidates will be conscientious, policy-oriented, results-driven leaders with strong communication and people skills, who have a passion for best practices, relationship building, accountability, and conflict resolution. The HR Director, Employee Experience will serve as a trusted leader for managers and employees, fostering a culture of engagement, performance, and alignment to the company’s core values and standards. This hands-on role will develop and implement strategies to boost employee engagement and satisfaction, overseeing the employee relations function throughout the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field, with 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including HR strategy with a focus on employee relations.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, support, and build relationships with cross-functional leaders in a multi-location environment with diverse managers, employees, and business units.
  • Extensive background in workplace investigations, conflict resolution, performance improvement, and progressive discipline processes.
  • Ability to serve as a hands-on leader who combines strategic thinking with operational execution.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to guide teams through change management.
  • Knowledge of labor and employment laws and a commitment to policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in HR data analysis, reporting, and visualization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills, displaying expertise, professionalism, and confidence.
  • Ability to travel as needed (approximately 25% travel across resort and clinic locations).
  • Work on-site in an office environment at Pet Paradise HQ.
  • Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship and ability to pass a criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Multi-state hospitality, manufacturing, or retail industry experience is highly preferred.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with HR technology tools; UKG experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Strengthen and sustain a mission-driven workplace culture, while ensuring strong, compliant, and responsive human resources operations related to employee experience.
  • Cultivate strong partnerships with HQ, regional, and resort/clinic management to provide ongoing support, coaching, and guidance.
  • Partner with VP People and other business leaders to design and implement policies and programs that drive high performance, foster employee engagement, and support organizational goals.
  • Lead progressive discipline process by managing and resolving employee relations issues and providing support on corrective actions and improvement plans.
  • Liaise with Legal Team to navigate legal risks, compliance with labor and employment laws, and handling of sensitive employee issues.
  • Guide managers in determining appropriate disciplinary steps, resolving employee conflicts, and ensuring proper documentation and consistency that is free from arbitrary or discriminatory practices.
  • Lead employee investigations and terminations, ensuring thorough risk assessment and compliance with company policies and employment laws.
  • Assist in the interactive process for ADA accommodations, including reviewing requests, and ensuring compliance with FMLA, PWFA, and ADA regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Training & Learning team to deliver engaging and effective training on HR policies, compliance, and leadership development, fostering continuous learning and skill-building across the organization.
  • Maintain HRIS records, analyze and interpret HR metrics, generate reports, and recommend solutions to improve workplace trends.
