About The Position

Responsible for coordinating a wide range of activities to support the plant operation under the direction of the Plant Human Resources Manager, with an indirect reporting relationship to Plant Manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, A and at least two years’ experience in a Human Resources role.
  • Computer skills and data entry experience necessary.
  • In work related situations must be able to take direction and communicate in English as well as read, write, and understand written documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Must be able to use and understand simple mathematics, using addition, subtraction, fractions and decimals, knowledge of the metric system is a plus.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfills responsibilities of a receptionist; receives incoming calls, screens or directs caller to appropriate individual/department; greets and welcomes visitors, ensures visitors log is completed and notifies employee that visitor has arrived; retrieves, opens, date stamps, and distributes mail.
  • Reviews all employment applications via Applicant Tracking System to ensure that each application is complete prior to forwarding to Plant HR Manager or hiring manager/supervisor.
  • Keeps weekly headcount records for full-time and temporary employees.
  • Posts open job positions internally and externally, schedules interviews, and, at the direction of the Plant HR Manager, assists with background checks and schedules drug testing.
  • Conducts orientation program with each new/temporary employee on the first day of employment. Explains Company policies and procedures, benefits, and in the absence of Quality and/or Environment Health & Safety representative, individual and product safety. Ensures that all new hire paperwork and benefits enrollment paperwork is completed in the HRIS. Forwards documents to Corporate HR as appropriate and in a timely manner.
  • Works with temporary employment agencies to secure services to assist with specific needs, maintaining accurate temporary employee records, resolving invoicing issues and tracking individuals work history. Maintains temporary employee files.
  • Maintains and monitors hourly employee records, files, training records, insurance enrollment, and various reports for distribution to appropriate departments or individuals in a timely manner. Forwards appropriate documents to Corporate HR as appropriate.
  • Interacts with managers, supervisors and or payroll to resolve issues with hourly employees payroll.
  • Responsible for organizing the facility sponsored employee events.
  • Assists with annual inventory (counting, data entry of tickets).
  • Assists managers and or supervisors with any administrative duties as needed. These duties include, but are not limited to, purchase order maintenance for manufacturing, logistics & quality departments, monthly reporting, scheduling training sessions, ordering office supplies, processing expense reports, and obtaining quotes from vendors.
  • Maintains the Plant HR Scorecard ensuring it is current and up-to-date.
  • Maintains all employee engagement boards.
  • Maintains training files and records as well as various reports for distribution to appropriate departments or individuals in a timely manner.
  • Special projects as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and consistent attendance.
  • Comply with the EH&S Policy and applicable regulatory and company EH&S rules and requirements.
  • Report to supervision conditions or practices that are either unsafe or that may adversely impact the environment, to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards.
  • Attend scheduled EH&S training program.
  • Actively support the organization’s efforts to meet or exceed EH&S goals and plans.
  • Recommend improved EH&S practices.
  • Practices safe work habits and follows general safety procedures such as proper lifting and bending, ergonomics, proper use of equipment and use of personal protection equipment (PPE).
  • Adheres to the lockout procedures any time the equipment is being cleaned or maintained.
  • Follows Product Safety and Quality standards.
  • Follows GMP’s in regard to food contact packaging as it pertains to the employee.
  • Follows IPC product defense standards and complies with all SQF requirements.
