About the role: You will be working from our Austin, TX location, providing centralized HR generalist support to an internal team of six and an expanding organization with employees located in over 16 states. Due to growth, our employee population is expected to exceed 200 by the close of 2026. This role involves working full-time from 8 AM 5 PM , Monday through Friday, some flexibility permitted. This role is exempt, with an in-person expectation for the first 90 days moving to hybrid following a satisfactory 90 day review. The internal HR management team will provide mentorship and professional development support to this entry-level role, which is ideal for a motivated, disciplined self-starter with a genuine, demonstrated interest in HR. Our ideal candidate is eager to learn HR processes and develop their knowledge in the complexities of employment law regulation. They are approachable, confidential, methodical, flexible, comfortable with ambiguity, and also savvy with numbers, and good with Excel, as a backup for the payroll function. Good judgement and comfort leading interviews is also highly desirable as a backup for our recruitment function. We are open to candidate backgrounds: this role could be a recent grad with a degree in HR or someone with a background in accounting or business, interested in a career change. The duties of this role are varied, providing an excellent launchpad for more specialized areas of HR as the person learns and grows.

Requirements

  • This is an entry-level role, therefore no prior experience is required, but it is helpful; candidates will be prioritized by desired qualifications and KSAOs.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills: You have mental agility, and the ability to track and switch between different areas of HR expertise and prioritize projects / assignments.
  • Customer Service: You recognize that HR is a service-oriented profession and exhibit a reasonable sense of urgency when processing tasks to completion.
  • Approachable : You have mature interpersonal abilities and are comfortable with the prospect of working with people, leading interviews, and participating in engagement activities. A background in customer service is helpful.
  • Coachable: You have the desire and ability to learn a broad variety of HR-related tasks. You can retain and implement instruction and training. You are open to learn and navigate our current processes and systems. You are not afraid to ask questions.
  • Exceptional and dependable team player: You are able to work in both a team and independent setting. You tend to foster support and dependability towards your peers while also getting your individual tasks done within specific time constraints.
  • Reliable: You are able to exercise self-discipline in-office and at home in the completion of your duties.
  • Technical competencies: You are technologically-savvy, comfortable using Excel, and have the ability to learn complex HR systems such as ADP.
  • Confidential: You take judgement and care to safeguard private information, exercising discretion and respect in the handling of sensitive information. You are able to reserve judgement and distinguish between rumor and fact.
  • Office environment: You are able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time and work 100% in-office.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or greater in Human Resources, Accounting, Business, Computer Science, or related field
  • Experience in HR, or with payroll and accounting
  • similar HR certification.
  • Industry experience helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Project-manage onboarding and offboarding processes, including: background checks, offer letters, employee eligibility verifications, start dates, equipment, supplies, obtaining signatures on required forms, and more.
  • Assist in payroll process, maintaining and adjust timecards with long-term aim of learning to administer payroll independently on a monthly basis.
  • During busy season, assist with recruitment efforts, evaluating resumes and identifying potential candidates with long-term goal of being able to run searches from start to finish independently.
  • Provide support to the Events Committee in the creation, execution, and administration of events.
  • Provide event planning support to annual Managers Meeting.
  • Assist in benefits enrollments, and administration and review changes for accuracy, including annual open enrollment
  • Assist with expense reconciliation.
  • Assist with administration of the human resources information system (HRIS) and related HR software, including development, maintenance, and upgrades to system and modules
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to HR systems users
  • Compile or assist with the acquisition of data reports, summaries, and logs from HR systems
  • Monitor HR list-serv, resolve concerns, and escalate issues to appropriate parties.
  • Audit human resources documentation to ensure lawful and accurate retention
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Stay current on industry trends, best practices, emerging technologies, and legal developments in labor practices and HR administration, proactively identifying required changes to current policies and procedures and opportunities for innovation and improvement
  • Conduct reference checks and background checks, as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
