The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) aligns organizational objectives with employees and management across designated Centers and departments (DuPage, Aurora, Cicero and Belmont Cragin). The HRBP builds strong partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added services that support the mission, goals, and strategic priorities of the organization. This role maintains a deep understanding of the centers’ strategic plans, programmatic and funding structure, culture, and external environment. While the position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, the HRBP serves as a coach and mentor to team members, managers, and leaders throughout the West Region. The HRBP ensures consistent HR practices, supports multi-site operations, and drives employee engagement, performance, and compliance across all locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required.
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive total HR experience, including business partner support.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing complex employee relations issues.
  • Experience should include HR support in a non-profit environment.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge across multiple HR disciplines, including compensation, performance management, organizational development, employee relations, diversity and inclusion, and federal and state employment laws.
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English (written and verbal) required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal and customer service abilities.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and effective time management to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills to address complex employee and organizational issues.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply relevant laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines.
  • Capacity to understand the organization’s structure, roles, qualifications, grant funding processes and compliance, compensation practices, and related administrative processes.
  • Experience with HR technology, including HRIS systems, applicant tracking, and HR analytics tools.
  • Knowledge of change management and organizational development principles to support culture and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to build partnerships, influence decisions, and drive HR solutions without direct authority.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic HR partner to leadership, aligning people strategies with operational and grant-funded program objectives across multiple sites.
  • Lead workforce planning, organizational design, succession planning, and change management initiatives to strengthen organizational effectiveness.
  • Provide expert guidance on employee relations, performance management, investigations, corrective action, and leadership coaching.
  • Oversee talent lifecycle initiatives, including recruitment collaboration, onboarding, retention strategies, engagement efforts, and leadership development.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, Illinois, and local employment laws, grant requirements, leave administration programs, and audit readiness standards.
  • Leverage HR metrics, workforce analytics, and reporting to inform strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Drive HR process enhancements and lead cross-functional projects that support operational efficiency and regional growth.
  • Provide mentorship and strategic guidance to HR team members while serving as the primary HR resource for assigned sites.
