About The Position

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Business, or a related field required.
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of progressive HR experience partnering with management and operations resolving diverse and complex employee relation issues
  • Minimum 5 years of HR managerial experience with a business partner team
  • Must be able to maintain an energetic, passionate, and positive disposition under a variety of circumstances
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language required
  • Proficient with HRMS/HRIS application; UKG preferred but not required
  • Understanding of various employment laws, compliance issues, and various other HR topics
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently both verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences; must possess above average interpersonal skills
  • Ability to solve complex business problems and think critically
  • Must work collaboratively with others to meet goals and objectives while maintaining company culture and strong, effective relationships
  • Must be able to prioritize competing objectives and consistently meet deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • PHR or other professional HR certification preferred
  • Experience in the transportation, manufacturing, or in an industrial environment preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • In partnership with terminal and departmental management, respond to and address employee relations issues including recommendations for appropriate action; mediate and facilitate issues between management and employees; develop solutions to challenges of diverse scope and complexity while managing precedents
  • Manage and direct the HR Business partner team including scheduling, conducting performance reviews, coaching, and issuing discipline, etc. and all related activities
  • Assist terminal and departmental management with coaching and counseling employees on a variety of issues; draft complex and sensitive employee warnings
  • Develop and implement actions plans in areas including employee engagement and other applicable areas of compliance
  • Leads the ongoing review, revision, and maintenance of Employee Handbook, ensuring all content remains accurate and compliant with federal and state regulations.
  • Investigate and document employee concerns regarding workplace and other issues
  • Partner with legal team to provide all pertinent information needed to defend charges against the company
  • Manage and oversees the HR Business Partner team’s application of onboarding interview process for new hires, including developing interview guidelines, alignment with PITT OHIO culture, and identifying trends to improve new hire experience and retention.
  • Submit and initiate workflow changes for employees and managers using HRMS system
  • Communicate and interpret HR policies and procedures employees; assist in the creation and implementation of new HR policies; support management in the interpretation and use of policies, procedures, and applicable employment laws whenever feasible
  • Champion cross-functional input (HR Leadership, Operations, Legal) to update policies and communicate finalized revisions to leaders and employees
  • Coordinate and lead various HR initiatives and projects across the enterprise
  • Submit monthly report of all HR Employee Relations activities
  • Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned
  • Support the wellness initiatives at terminal locations
  • Assist terminal management with recruiting qualified applicants for all positions including phone screening, interviewing, attending job fairs, and maintaining relationships with recruiting sources
  • Assist terminal operations with the new hire orientation
  • Support departmental and terminal management with HR Training resources as needed
  • Identify HR technologies and systems that enhance reporting, workflow efficiency, and employee experience
  • Audit HR processes and procedures across terminal locations
