About The Position

The Human Resources Business Partner III provides human resources (HR) support and consultation to the CED Business Unit. Uses working knowledge of the business to provide HR consultation and guidance to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and laws, and company policies and practices. Partners directly with department managers to execute HR strategies in alignment with business objectives and key initiatives.

Requirements

  • Lawful permanent resident of the United States (ITAR restrictions)
  • Must be eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) for all employees of Chemring Energetic Devices
  • Ability to represent the Company positively and professionally through behavior, attitude and communication
  • Strong team player and willingness to create solutions and accept ownership for new and different requests
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational development, performance management, and federal and state employment laws
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results
  • Must possess knowledge of applicable laws and regulations
  • Exceptional attention to detail, high degree of accuracy and ability to independently perform multiple assignments
  • Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and exercise effective independent judgement, sensitivity and creativity to changing needs and situations
  • Must be computer savvy with a high degree of proficiency in Windows and related software applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, database management, vendor portals
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated and capable of working under tight deadlines and prioritizing multiple tasks
  • Must be adaptable to changes in the work environment, comfortable with multiple competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events in a calm and logical manner
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience and knowledge in full scope Human Resources disciplines
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as serving in a business partner capacity within a manufacturing organization
  • Prior human resources experience supporting manufacturing and/or engineering

Nice To Haves

  • HR Professional Certification (e.g., HRCI SPHR or SHRM-CP) is preferred, or ability to gain certification within 12 months of hire
  • Payroll processing experience strongly preferred
  • Experience in a Government Contracting environment is preferred

Responsibilities

  • In support of business functions, coach and advise leaders in employee relations issues and ensure accurate, timely feedback and escalation of issues when needed; conduct investigations as directed
  • Be fully integrated within assigned functional group to maintain awareness of staffing requirements,
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on HR and personnel-related matters, providing clear, consistent policy interpretation and guidance to employees, managers, and leadership
  • Work with business leaders to ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies (e.g. FML, ADA, EEO, FLSA, etc.)
  • Responsible for fostering a positive working environment where employees are comfortable addressing concerns with management and Human Resources
  • Support the creation, implementation and communication of HR initiatives; support organizational change initiatives to align operational continuous improvement and culture-building efforts
  • Lead the Performance Management process across CED to develop consistent practices, timeliness, and validated content
  • Collaborate with business leaders to provide insight and support for workforce planning, organizational development, and succession planning
  • Maintain job descriptions, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Support HR Generalist in resolving or responding to employee inquiries related to benefit programs, PTO, leave of absence
  • Ensure consistent application of Company policies and procedures
  • Comply with government and corporate laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure 100% compliance with the Chemring Operational Framework, Code of Conduct and U.S. Code of Ethics and Business Conduct
  • Participate in cross-functional committees or task forces as an HR representative
  • Provide support for the HR Director for all aspects of the business
  • Provide mentorship to junior HR staff; backup for HR Generalist as needed
  • Special projects and additional duties as assigned
