A Day in the Life as a Housing Support Specialist: As a Housing Support Specialist, you’ll work directly with individuals and families experiencing housing instability or homelessness. You’ll be a trusted advocate and resource for clients, playing a pivotal role in improving their housing stability and overall well-being. Your day will involve: Assisting clients in navigating housing programs, securing safe and affordable housing, and accessing resources. Conducting intake assessments to determine eligibility and needs. Collaborating with local landlords, agencies, and community partners to find housing solutions. Providing ongoing support and case management to help clients maintain stable housing. Educating clients on tenant rights, responsibilities, and budgeting strategies to ensure long-term success. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation in compliance with program requirements.

Requirements

  • Education: Associate’s degree in social work, human services, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience: Previous experience in housing programs, case management, or social services is highly valued.
  • Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in navigating housing resources and community systems is a plus.
  • Characteristics: Empathy, resilience, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to empowering individuals and families.
  • Technical: Proficient with data entry and case management software.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license are required, as some travel within the community may be necessary.
