The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, Office of Property and Resource Development, is committed to developing and managing safe, decent, affordable, and well-maintained housing for low and extremely low-income persons who are affected by mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or substance use disorders. As a Housing Stabilization Specialist at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, you will play a vital role in transforming the lives of individuals facing a wide range of behavioral health and/or developmental conditions who are homeless, have prior incarcerations, reside in group homes, or experience frequent psychiatric hospitalizations. In this position, you will collaborate with clients to identify their unique housing needs and assist them in navigating housing opportunities, including the creation of comprehensive housing plans. You will manage a caseload, provide in-home, housing-focused skill supports, ensuring your clients have the tools and resources necessary to secure stable, safe housing and achieve greater independence. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services such as Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or Counseling.
  • One (1) year of case management experience, including housing resources for adults living with mental health, developmental disabilities, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders.
  • Valid Driver's License for transporting clients as necessary.
  • Proficiency with various software and tools related to case management is essential, alongside solid documentation skills for maintaining accurate records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build rapport with clients and collaborate effectively with landlords and community partners.
