About The Position

NorthKey Community Care is seeking a full-time Housing Stability Specialist to work with clients to assist with and establish permanent housing options in our Covington, KY location on Madison Avenue. HOURS: 8:30-5 M-F in an office setting with scheduled community outreach. This position is in person at our Covington location with community-based travel to our Newport and Florence locations and possibly rural Counties including Gallatin, Grant, and Carroll, and Owen. Requirements

  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to the right and the ability of each person with a severe mental illness to live in normal community residences; work in market jobs; and have access to helpful, adequate, competent and continuous support and services.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and/or effectively able to use transportation independently.
  • Experience working with clients in a direct service capacity and a community setting
  • Ability to prepare written reports and records.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in social service or related field preferred, BUT NOT REQUIRED

Responsibilities

  • Acquire knowledge of various federal, state and local housing programs.
  • Develop a working knowledge and resource guide of all local housing options.
  • Meet with clients to determine eligibility for housing and to assist clients with applying for available housing options.
  • Refer clients to area agencies to maximize their access to available services.
  • Establish and maintain a working relationship with law enforcement to ensure safety of program participants and security of properties.
  • Assist with grant writing, intent to apply for grants, and other proposals for funding or necessary supplies.
  • Maintain complete and accurate client files.
  • Organize community support and conduct outreach for supportive housing activities in the area.
  • Attend SOAR training and develop the ability to assist clients with applying for Social Security benefits.
  • Establish an effective working relationship with Social Security Administration staff.
  • Assist clients with applying for Social Security and other available benefits.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of community resources.
  • Refer clients internally and externally to community supports and resources.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings.
