About The Position
All Minnesotans deserve a safe place to call home. You can make a difference in your community by supporting people facing homelessness or housing insecurity . Join Heading Home Corps as a Housing Resource Navigator and you’ll spend your days at a nonprofit organization or public agency t hat has a mission in housing advocacy, social services, and/or public assistance . We’ll train you to help individuals obtain safe , stable housing and support you every step of the way ! How does it work? Y ou’ll regularly meet with part icipants and provide guidance as they navigate resources , set housing-related goals, and develop action plans. Requirements
- Dependable and have a history of good attendance
- Able to set a pace and maintain a service schedule, depending on the agreed upon hours commitment
- Proficient in basic computer skills (like email and navigating online)
- Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing
- 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
- A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States
- Able to successfully complete a background check
Responsibilities
- Foster strong relationships with participants
- Guide participants in creating housing-related goals
- Track participant progress
- Connect participants with social service resources and programs
- Commit to your own growth through training and professional development
- Share your experience with the community
