About The Position

This position is responsible for :
Oversees, accepts and processes residents staying in the shelter, monitors the activity of residents on an assisgned shift ensuring safety, security and compliance to shelter rules.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitors the behavior and activities of clients participating in the shelter. Guards the security and safety of Salvation Army facilities and building to ensure compliance with shelter rules and policies and to protect the safety of staff and clients.

Requirements

• First Aid and CPR certification
• Valid Drivers License
• High school diploma or GED
• One year experience working with the public performing security or social service work preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients in order to control, lead and motivate behavior.
• Ability to work with the publice encoupassing all types of behaviors.
• Ability to work independently and limited supervision while enforcing established policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of security practices and procedures.
• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
• Ability to respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly while maintaining control and initiating the proper corrective action.
• Ability to perform combination of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.

Responsibilities

• Checks clients into the shelter; completes required paperwork representing client intake, inputs data into the computer.
• Answers telephone and responds to questions regarding the shelter operations.
• Monitors client's behavior and activities to ensure compliance with program rules, direct clients in appropriate behavior.
• Provides security for the building and grounds being aware of activities happening in building dormitories; and maintaining awareness of activities occuring outside of the building.
