About The Position

The Housing Development Associate joins the LIHI Project Development team. This position will be assisting the team with project development and project management activities, soliciting financing, competing for public funding, contracting, design oversight of the architectural team, construction administration and project close-out. Projects will involve multiple and complex funding sources, such as public financing, bond financing, private financing, tax credits, HUD and other sources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Be committed to affordable housing development and preservation.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak in English, with excellent writing skills.
  • Must have intermediate word processor or spreadsheet software proficiency.
  • Must be able to simultaneously coordinate multiple development projects at different stages in the development process.
  • Able to work independently and in a team.
  • Be detail oriented.
  • Be comfortable with uncertainty.
  • Possess strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Genuinely enjoys collaboration with, and learning from, others.
  • Must pass criminal background checks and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, construction management, economics, engineering or architecture.
  • Three years in project coordination.
  • Ability to contextualize ideas via clear and concise writing.
  • Project management software experience i.e. Microsoft Project.
  • Experience with mathematical analysis.
  • Two years of project management experience.
  • Experience supporting and assisting a team.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, track and distribute due diligence materials.
  • Prepare and review documents to reach closing with financing institutions, contractors, attorneys, engineers, architects, and other development team members.
  • Review and present change orders to the development team and track budget adjustments.
  • Assist with preparation of financial and public funding applications.
  • Assist with research on potential new projects.
  • Assist Project Managers with requests for reimbursement of committed funds.
  • Track and coordinate payments requests, attend meetings and take notes as needed.
  • Copy and scan documents for applications and shared drive.
  • Filing and organizing.
  • Schedule meetings.
  • Responsible for detailed reporting and documenting all incidents and maintenance needs and operational issues in writing through the assigned platform/system, in a timely fashion (within 24 or 48 hours for non-emergent issues).
  • Foster a clean and safe environment.
  • Engage with assigned training and comply with training deadlines.
  • Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow PPE protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.
