Reporting to the Housing Specialist Supervisor, the Housing Specialist will be responsible for working closely with voucher holders to assist them with finding a suitable unit to rent. The Housing Specialist will also conduct outreach to property owners and brokers to identify housing opportunities. Responsibilities also include, but are not limited to, the following: - Identify housing opportunities for voucher holders searching by conducting outreach and coordinating with case managers, property owners, property management companies, and brokers - Maintain voucher holders’ records by entering and reviewing case notes; logging events and progress. - Serve as the primary point of contact for property owners, case managers, and the voucher holders during the lease-up process. - Educate voucher holders on the housing search and lease-up process - Assist voucher holders with filling out rental applications, interpreting leases, and understanding tenant right and responsibilities - Maintain data related to property owners and brokers, available units, and client interactions. - Prepare case-related reports including outcomes, successes, and challenges - Complete intake interviews; conduct screening/qualification questions related to housing searches. - Process broker fee payments. - Refer voucher holders to appropriate agencies, as needed. - Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. - Review and process rental packages. - Verify rent reasonableness, check for building code violations, HPD violations, compliance with the 40% rule, and confirm no banned owners. - Create building and unit records in Siebel when necessary. - Resolve voucher holder related issues. - Communicate with outside agencies to ensure and expedite rentals. - Ensure accurate and timely responses to inquiries. - Report system issues and recommend enhancements to improve operations. - Perform related duties as assigned.
