About The Position

Seeking reliable, attentive and detail-oriented personnel for a Housekeeping Supervisor role. This individual would supervise, direct, assist and assure the completion of housekeeping tasks in guest rooms, corridors and public spaces assigned to the Room Attendant and Houseperson staff to maintain Marriotts standard of cleanliness.

Requirements

  • Ability to push or pull equipment weighing up to 150 pounds.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing an average of 25-50 pounds.
  • Ability to scrub and scour surfaces, extending arms over head to perform cleaning tasks, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other employees, as well as guests.
  • Ability to provide clear direction, instruction and guidance to subordinates.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to make sound business decisions and demonstrate good judgment.
  • Ability to effectively supervise subordinates.
  • Basic ability to comprehend English language sufficient to understand information such as labels and instructions and basic guest requests.
  • Any combination or education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of six months supervisory experience or one year of comparable housekeeping experience will be accepted.

Responsibilities

  • Visually inspecting suites, guest rooms, public spaces, linen closets and corridors for cleanliness and appearance. Update room status upon completion of inspection. Complete written inspection in accordance to LHM’s policy.
  • Train and monitor performance of room attendant and the houseperson staff. Exercise good judgment, as well as provide organization, instruction, guidance, communication and constructive counseling. Ensure that all jobs are completed within the shift.
  • Take requested inventories of furniture, fixtures, linen, equipment and supplies. Ensure that both carts and linen/supply closets are kept clean, neat and stocked according to departmental guidelines.
  • Complete work orders and submit all maintenance deficiencies in guest rooms, corridors and public space areas through the Quick Connect System.
  • Expedite special guest requests, such as extra towels, blankets or pillows.
  • Assist room attendants and housepersons in securing all supplies and tools necessary for the completion of their jobs as the need arises.
  • Report all suspicious persons or actions, hazardous conditions, etc, to a supervisor immediately.
  • Greet guests in hallways or when passing by. Respond to guest questions. Provide guest assistance, directions and information as requested.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the supervisor such as cleaning rooms, assisting Room Attendants or cross training when necessary.
  • Comply with the standards, rules and regulations which may be established by LHM and may be updated from time to time.
  • Employees who violate Hotel rules or have irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
  • Employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
  • Employees may also be required to attend group and/or department meetings in addition to the scheduled work shift as necessary.
