The Public Area Supervisor oversees the cleaning and maintenance of all public spaces within the hotel, ensuring a high standard of cleanliness, safety, and guest satisfaction. This role supervises housekeeping staff assigned to public areas and ensures compliance with hotel standards and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous housekeeping experience, preferably in a hotel environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Hospitality certification is a plus
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of public area attendants
  • Inspect lobbies, restrooms, hallways, elevators, meeting rooms, pools and other shared spaces to ensure cleanliness standards are met
  • Assign tasks and schedules to staff based on occupancy and operational needs
  • Train new employees in cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and hotel standards
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies
  • Monitor inventory levels and request replenishment as needed
  • Respond promptly to guest requests or complaints related to public areas
  • Coordinate with other departments (front desk, maintenance, security) to ensure smooth operations
  • Report on maintenance issues and follow-up to ensure timely resolution
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations
