About The Position

We are looking for a dedicated Housekeeper/Public Areas Cleaner to maintain cleanliness and organization in our hotel, it's public spaces and employee housing areas at Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve in Gustavus Alaska. This role ensures that our guests and team members enjoy a clean, welcoming, and comfortable environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and takes pride in their work, contributing to the overall experience of living and working in a stunning natural setting. About Glacier Bay Lodge & Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve: Ever wish you had more daylight hours? With 18 hours of daylight during the summer, recreation and sightseeing opportunities are never-ending! Glacier Bay Lodge is a small 50-room lodge nestled in between coastal mountains, incredible fjords, and Alaska's Inside Passage and is a remote wilderness experience you don’t want to miss. The only way to travel to us is by air or sea from Juneau to the friendly little town of Gustavus, your Gateway to Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve. Enjoy everything this remote park has to offer by becoming a part of our small family of around 60 employees for the summer of a lifetime! This is a seasonal role with ideal dates of May 14 – September 10, 2026. We offer competitive wages, paid sick leave, on-site housing and meal plan ($16/day all inclusive!), & local discounts! Employees are responsible for knowing the environmental aspects and associated impacts of their job position. Job specific Environmental Aspects and Impacts will be communicated by Dept. Managers during EMS training.

Requirements

  • Experience: Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience preferred but not required.
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to work independently.
  • Attributes: Reliable, proactive, and respectful of others' living and working spaces.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs., stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Comfortable living and working in a remote or semi-remote national park setting.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize guest rooms, including making beds, vacuuming, dusting, and replenishing amenities.
  • Ensure bathrooms are thoroughly cleaned, restocked, and ready for guest use.
  • Handle special cleaning tasks such as deep cleaning or addressing specific guest requests.
  • Report any maintenance or safety concerns to management promptly.
  • Operate washers, dryers, and folding equipment to clean and prepare linens, towels, and other textiles.
  • Sort, fold, and distribute fresh linens to housekeeping carts and storage areas.
  • Inspect items for damage or stains and ensure they meet quality standards before reuse.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry room and equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in hotel lobbies, hallways, restrooms, dining areas, and other public spaces.
  • Clean windows, doors, floors, and furniture to ensure a welcoming appearance.
  • Empty trash bins, replenish supplies, and address spills or messes promptly.
  • Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to management immediately.
  • Regularly clean and sanitize common areas in employee housing, including lounges, kitchens, and shared restrooms.
  • Ensure laundry facilities, recreational spaces, and other amenities are clean and functional.
  • Monitor housing areas for cleanliness, safety, and compliance with community standards.
  • Respond to guest and staff requests for additional cleaning or supplies in public areas.
  • Assist with special cleaning projects, seasonal deep cleaning, or preparation for events as needed.
  • Foster a positive and respectful relationship with both guests and team members.
  • Adhere to all safety, sanitation, and environmental guidelines, including the park’s sustainability initiatives.
  • Properly use and store cleaning supplies and equipment, following safety protocols.
