About The Position

The Housekeeper will perform routine cleaning as required to provide a clean and safe facility, ensuring effective physical cleanliness of all assigned areas. This role involves completing all duties listed on the daily schedule, maintaining upkeep of assigned areas and equipment, and ensuring proper supply levels of toilet tissue, paper towels, soap, and other services. The incumbent will be a representative of the YMCA who accepts and demonstrates its core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. The position requires the ability to work with cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, paint, and solutions in various forms, and to complete work assignments with minimal supervision.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED; required
At least 18 years of age; required.
Ability to lift 25 pounds, climb ladders and to work on your feet for multiple hours at a time.
Working knowledge of modern cleaning methods, materials, tools and equipment.
Understanding safe and efficient use of cleaning compounds and chemicals.
CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required within 30 days of employment.
Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions.

Responsibilities

Ensure the Y is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned areas and equipment.
May perform wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, painting, vacuuming and general cleaning.
Ensure proper supply levels of toilet tissue, paper towels, soap and other services are provided.
Ability to work with cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, paint and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray and aerosol forms.
Ability to complete work assignments with minimal supervision.
Report items needing repair to Head Housekeeper.
Maintain a professional appearance and manner reflective of Y standards.
Attend regular training and staff meetings as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
